The free-to-play racing game was released in 2015 for iOS and Android, developed by Firemonkeys Studios, and published by Electronic Arts. Introduced as Need for Speed’s first development from Criterion Games, known for the Burnout series, Need for Speed Shift looks to move away from the live-action cutscenes and vehicle customization.Įlectronic Arts (EA) developed and published Need for Speed II, which, as with its predecessor, allows players to race through a number of races using rare exotic cars. Released as a multi-generational title on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as on PC, Hot Pursuit is generally considered to be one of the most underrated entries in Need for Speed. Upon its release, Hot Pursuit was critically acclaimed, winning multiple awards for Best Racing Game, including Best Driving Game at the Spike Video Game Awards in 2010, and Best Racing Game at the 2010 Game Critics Awards.

Its first entry won many awards at E3 2012, including Best Racing Game, becoming the first NFS series title to receive an E3 Award since the original Hot Pursuit. While it did not attract general fans to Need For Speeds arcade-style gameplay, it is still considered to be one of the best games in the decades-spanning series to attempt something new.
Hot Pursuit is the first NFS developed by Criterion Games, the makers of the famous Burnout. Need for Speed Heat is certainly not the worst NFS game developed by Ghost Games, but it is not even the best NFS game released to date. Unlike most Need For Speed games, which are developed by Ghost Games, NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered effectively marks the first ever NFS title produced by Criterion Games. This game was launched to bridge the gap between classics and NFS, as well as an upcoming contemporary title for the NFS series, but EA got the game with better controls and physics from NFS Underground 2, and a cop pursuit concept from NFS Hot Pursuit. Most in-game elements in this game were copied from the earlier Need For Speed games, such as the Illegal Street Race, Police Pursuit, and Car Customization. Most of the tracks for this game are like Hot Pursuit versions of Need For Speed but do introduce some new modes into the game.
